Artsakh’s monasteries, churches, fortresses, and castles have been inventoried. The exclusive maps were compiled and published by the Genesis Armenia think tank/foundation, and were presented during an event marking the organization’s 5th anniversary.
“The project is a scientifically grounded document of legal and political significance, aimed at preserving and documenting Artsakh’s historical and cultural heritage by leaving evidence for future generations,” said Slava Sargsyan, monument studies expert and author of the maps’ content, during the event.
At Genesis Armenia’s fifth anniversary, the organization presented its journey in key areas: security, politics, the economy, and culture.
“Genesis Armenia was founded immediately after the 44-day war, as a consequence of the defeat imposed in the war against the Armenian people and the Republic of Armenia. The organization began consolidating the Armenian intellectual potential scattered around the world and putting it in the service of the Armenian people’s national and state interests. Today, we continue to follow our strategic path unwaveringly, leaving behind hundreds of articles, dozens of studies, more than fifty programs, a consistent voice and action in the national political agenda, and a courageous civic stance and presence in Armenia’s and pan-Armenian national agendas,” said the organization’s founding director, Abraham Gasparyan.
The jubilee event opened with a message from Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, sent while he was in custody.
“According to biblical logic, Genesis—the Book of Creation—symbolizes birth, followed by Exodus, liberation from captivity. Due to circumstances, I am unable to be present at this family’s anniversary today. I congratulate you and wish you an honorable and strong Armenia. Together, we have vowed not to forget—for the sake of Armenia, and not to forgive—for the sake of Artsakh,” the archbishop’s sister, Arpine Zargaryan, read his letter.
Speeches were delivered at the event by Ara Puluzyan, representative of the ARF Artsakh Central Committee; former Artsakh State Minister Artak Beglaryan; Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the Country of Living party; Avetik Chalabyan, coordinator of the Hayakve initiative; and Davit Ananyan, co-founder and board member of the Wings of Unity initiative. All of these organizations have shared a joint political, programmatic, analytical, and organizational path with Genesis Armenia.
Ara Puluzyan stated that after the war, Genesis Armenia struck the right target, recognizing Artsakh as the focal point of Armenian preservation and national liberation, and made a tangible contribution in this regard.
“Implementing more than 90 percent of the programs in Artsakh is about ideology and values. Genesis Armenia was among the teams that chose the path of struggle,” said Mesrop Arakelyan.
Former Artsakh State Minister Artak Beglaryan also stressed in his remarks that “the foundation carries out practical work in all directions and assumes real responsibility. From this perspective, it is very important that they do not only make speeches, but also act.”
Leaders of the newly formed force in Armenia’s political field, the Wings of Unity initiative, consider their joint path with Genesis Armenia to be a successful one.
“Genesis Armenia spread the light that instilled faith in our own strength. November 10 became a new starting point for struggle,” said Davit Ananyan.
The organization’s founding director also provided an assessment of the outgoing political year and presented a roadmap for overcoming challenges.
“Our salvation is in our own hands—to become self-sufficient through intelligent solutions, not beggars. To have a place and role in the political future of the Armenian people, a tightening of the muscles of mind and spirit is necessary, along with serious propaganda work in which broad layers of our compatriots must be involved,” said Abraham Gasparyan.
Genesis Armenia reaffirms its commitment to continuing work aimed at advancing national and state interests, based on scientific approaches, facts, and a long-term strategy.
