The film “Olympicos” was premiered in Artsakh within the framework of the “Artsakh lives” cultural festival.

Within the framework of the “Artsakh Lives” festival initiated by Genesis Armenia, “Olympicos”, an animated film by Davit and Hayk Sahakyants was premiered in Artsakh.

The film, telling about the life and the victories of Varazdat Arshakuni, the king of Greater Armenia, so impressed the Stepanakert audience that today, on May 23, it was screened for the second time; it was screened in the crowded hall of the Francofone Center yesterday.

“The animated film was premiered in Yerevan in May, 2021. Back then, we were intent on showing it in Artsakh but didn’t manage. After receiving an offer from Genesis Armenia we immediately gave our approval and were finally able to screen it,” said the film director, Davit Sahakyants.

Today’s audience was the students of the Shushi University of Technology wearing symbolic T-shirts. A discussion between the audience and the directors followed the film.

“It’s especially important to remind about the triumphant episodes of our history. I don’t think that the war has come to an end and that it has ended with our defeat. The war continues and it has never stopped. I am convinced that we will again celebrate victories. As for these events, they carry the meaning that we hold together, that Artsakh is not alone, and that Mother Armenia and the Diaspora are always there for Artsakh,” said Davit Sahakyants.

The director talked about the film’s 5-6 years’ creation process, hardships, high-quality technical solutions and techniques. The young spectators left the hall believing that the film about the victories of the Armenian king will also be screened in Shushi in the near future.

“We managed to escape from reality for the first time after the war. We all know about the works of the Sahakyants, we are very impressed; this film just drew smiles on the faces of the people of Artsakh. We left the hall all in goose bumps, with the thought in our heads, that we should still watch this film in Shushi,” said the representative of the Shushi University of Technology, Marina Zakaryan.

Within the framework of the festival, today, on May 23, at 19:00, the play “44 Degrees” of the Hamazgayin State Theatre will be performed in the Stepanakert Culture and Youth Palace. On May 24, Genesis Armenia’s and the theatre’s teams will be in Aghavno, where the actors will perform the children’s play “The Striped One.”
