Statement by Genesis Armenia on the 5th anniversary of the 44-Day War

Five years after the third war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh—the 44-Day War—under the chaotic conditions of a newly forming world order, it is a priority to neutralize existential threats to the security of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people, ensure the sovereignty and genuine independence of the Armenian state, and achieve a just and comprehensive resolution of the issue of depopulated Artsakh, without which international efforts to establish peace in the region are doomed to fail.

The responsibility of the authorities of the Republic of Armenia for surrendering Artsakh to Azerbaijan through war is indisputable. The Armenian authorities bear the responsibility for the defeat in the war, the dispossession of the people of Artsakh from their homeland, the thousands of casualties and disabled, the violation of Armenia’s sovereignty, the unquestioning fulfillment of the political demands of the aggressor state Azerbaijan, and for keeping Armenia and the Armenian people in disaster—an act of state treason.

Genesis Armenia Think Tank/Foundation declares:

The vision for the future of the Armenian people cannot be built on a mindset of surrender, defeatism, neglect of existential threats, or distortion of national self-awareness;

The national-state goals of Armenia and the Armenian people are just; the rights taken from them are inalienable, and their restoration is the task of all humanity and the international community in the pursuit of a more just and prosperous world;

Conceptual and principled approaches to the collective return to Artsakh, along with the reasoned sequence of tactical and strategic steps, must take a priority place on the agenda of all politically and ideologically viable forces of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people.

The issue of Artsakh has not been resolved. International guarantees for collective return require unconditional recognition of the facts of genocide and dispossession of the people of Artsakh, applying the indisputable norms of international law regarding the right to restitution and return.

Genesis Armenia Think Tank/Foundation will channel all its efforts into achieving the above goals—for the real independence of the Republic of Armenia, strengthening security, and effectively enhancing the regional role of the country, founded on a free, just, and creative society.

We pay our tribute to the families of those who lay down their lives in the 44-Day War.
