A classroom named after 44-day war hero Ashot Matevosyan at his children’s school

In classrooms bearing the names of heroes, values should be formed that teach generations to lead the country not along the path of destruction, but toward progress and development – Genesis Armenia think tank-foundation inaugurated an interactive classroom at Yerevan’s Ashot Navarsardyan Primary School No. 196.

The classroom will be named after Ashot Matevosyan, who died in the 44-day war. His three children study in the very same school.

“We must work on all fronts, but start from schools: to have an educated, well-raised school and students with strong values,” said Abraham Gasparyan, founder and director of Genesis Armenia.

According to Gasparyan, the opening of this classroom at such a decisive moment for the country was not accidental, especially on Ashot’s birthday. The hero was originally from Tavush, and the fate of that region is also being decided today.

Parents of Ashot Matevosyan, his children, and his wife were also present at the opening ceremony, sharing memories and stories about the fallen hero.

The classroom is equipped with 12 computers, 12 laptops, a smart board, and a printer. “Thanks to the interactive classroom, students now have the opportunity to make the learning process more interesting, effective, and accessible,” said school principal Anush Navarsardyan.

The classroom is intended for all grades.

The initiative was implemented with the support of Genesis Armenia and Khoren Mardoyan, a member of the United Armenian Council of Ontario.
